With their potent combination of bruising post-punk rock, guttural vocals and tough, tender songwriting, Melbourne’s Cash Savage and The Last Drinks have earned a reputation as one of Australia’s most ferocious live acts. With their latest album, So This Is Love, garnering some of the best reviews of their career, they head to Sydney for what will be one of the shows of the summer, with support from the ‘new matriarch of Australian rap’, BARKAA.
Cash Savage and The Last Drinks’ 2010 debut Wolf introduced their brand of driving, emotionally raw post-punk rock. They crystallised that sound on 2013’s breakthrough The Hypnotiser, which earned widespread critical acclaim. Upon signing to Mistletone, they continued their success with One of Us (2017) and Good Citizens (2018) and delivered a powerful lockdown performance later released as Live at Hamer Hall (2020).
2023’s So This Is Love confirmed the band’s spot as one of the rock powerhouses in the nation, with The Guardian praising the album for its tension, tenderness and political fury.
Joining Cash Savage and The Last Drinks as support is game-changing Malyangapa Barkindji rapper BARKAA.
Named Artist of the Year at the 2024 National Indigenous Music awards and ARIA nominated for her debut EP Blak Matriarchy, BARKAA is one of Australia’s most formidable hip-hop artists, balancing unbridled aggression with heart.
With two fearless live acts hitting City Recital Hall, get ready for a cathartic night.
