On the evening of 25 January, Vigil returns to Barangaroo Reserve. Vigil: Truths is a large-scale gathering that focuses on being heard, sharing knowledges and presenting First Nations visions for the future. At its core is the act of listening — listening to the many voices that will resonate across the land and waters on this night.
This year, the annual gathering is curated by ARIA and NIMA award-winning hip-hop group 3% – made up of proud First Nations artists Dallas Woods, Nooky and Angus Field. The stripped-back, never-before-seen performance will focus on empowering storytelling and the hard-hitting questions that lead to positive change.
3% fuses the soaring vocals of Field with the rap and MC songwriting talents of Woods and Nooky. The trio’s 2024 debut album, Kill the Dead, delivers potent messages around closing the gap, Indigenous deaths in custody and reclaiming stolen land.
In the lead up to 25 January, experience three weeks of events and activities as part of Vigil: Gunyah – a gathering space that is led, curated and designed by and for First Nations people, communities and allies. See the full schedule for Vigil: Gunyah here.
