Possessing one of the most mesmerising voices in Australian music, Radical Son never stops evolving.
This year, the celebrated Kamilaroi and Tongan artist returned with a new album, Bilambiyal, that is rich with themes of cultural connection, heritage and belonging. Featuring appearances from revered First Nations singer-songwriters Emma Donovan and Frank Yamma, the album blends soul, dub, rock and reggae around its creator’s rich, stop-in-your-tracks vocal tone.
As he says of Bilambiyal, “With almost 20 years now as an artist, I've stayed true to the game. I've stayed true to my mob. I've stayed true to myself. I really do hope that that message comes through in my songs.”
There’s no better way to kick off Sydney Festival’s music program than hearing these rare and powerful songs at the Sydney album launch.
